Political Economy Analysis of Swiss health policies and programme in South Kivu, DRC

Date/Duration

Dec 2013 – Mar 2014

Project Objectives

The aim of the project was to conduct a political economy analysis of the health sector in South Kivu, taking into account local, provincial and national-level dynamics and actors that influence decision-making, to feed into the design of future Swiss health programming.

Project Outputs

The study identified the main blockages and opportunities for reforms at all levels and served to inform SDC’s support for long-term transformation of South Kivu’s health sector. This PEA reviewed the political and financial relationships between structures, institutions and agents to understand threats and risks and to design interventions that are more likely to be effective.
