Integrity Joins C4D Network

Integrity is delighted to announce that it has become an associate member of the Communications for Development (C4D) Network, a unique organisation that brings together more than 1,300 practitioners worldwide to share experiences, ideas and professional development opportunities.

The concept of C4D is relatively new, having been first defined clearly at the UN World Congress in 2006. However, the activities that it covers are more familiar and include social and behaviour change, advocacy, media development and the use of other innovative communications techniques to support development objectives.

In particular, C4D focuses on dialogue and engagement, combined with an understanding of the context and an emphasis on community-driven solutions. These approaches fit closely to Integrity’s work on stakeholder engagement, localised research and capacity-building at a grass-roots level. For example, we are working closely with our local partner Raabta in Pakistan on projects that use two-way communications to improve beneficiary feedback and give greater voice to hard-to-reach groups.

The C4D Network, the brainchild of founder and Executive Director, Jackie Davies, is an online community of experts with regional groups that hold events and share resources. Jackie’s recent article on increasing research uptake among policymakers in the Global Development Professionals Network helps to explain one of the key themes of C4D.
