Urgency Meets Integrity: Responding to crisis with heart and precision

When recent floods hit Pakistan, the devastation was swift and so was the response. But speed alone isn’t enough. In moments of crisis, urgency must be matched with empathy, accountability, and purpose.

Through the Building Resilience and Addressing Vulnerability to Emergencies (BRAVE) programme, funded by FCDO and implemented by IOM and Concern Worldwide, life-saving support reached communities in record time: cash disbursements, food rations, and early recovery assistance. Integrity, as the BRAVE Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) lead, mobilised within days to ensure this rapid response was grounded in quality and accountability.

Our team deployed quickly, initiating Third Party Monitoring across flood-affected districts. We weren’t just collecting data but were also listening to the communities. Spot checks, community engagement, and real-time insights helped shape decisions that mattered.

As Integrity Principal Manager, Muhib Farooqui, shared during a field visit:

“In emergencies like this, it’s not just about how fast we act, it’s about how responsibly we act. Every conversation, every data point, every handshake with a community member is a reminder that relief is not a process but a promise.”

The images below of the aftermath of recent flooding in Buner, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, taken by Muhib, capture more than just the aftermath. They reflect resilience, solidarity, and the strength among communities to rebuild their lives.

Because in the face of crisis, Emergency MEL and research is not just about moving fast, it’s about moving with purpose.
