Sam Slota-Newson – Senior Operations Manager
Sam is the Senior Operations Manager at Integrity based in London, with an emphasis on identifying and managing risk to Integrity’s personnel and programmes and supporting programme delivery in complex and often hostile environments.
His role at integrity is the latest in a fourteen-year career working in conflict. After an exciting and fascinating nine years as an Infantry Officer in the British Army, Sam took on a role as a researcher at the Royal College of Defence Studies considering the political dynamics that shaped the conflicts he had been personally involved in, particularly Afghanistan. Further research during his MA allowed him to explore, in greater depth, both political level drivers of conflict and the impact of conflict on individuals and communities. On graduation, he moved into the humanitarian sector to work on conflict response, most recently as the Global Security Advisor at War Child UK.
Sam holds a Master of Arts in Political Science (International Relations) from the University of British Columbia. His MA thesis focused on the UN Security Council’s inability to find moral consensus, and therefore act decisively, to protect civilians. Originally from the UK, Sam has travelled extensively and spent considerable time working in some of the world’s most conflict-affected areas.
