Nick Wood – Manager, Services
Nick has previously worked in the international development sector, managing a large portfolio of security sector programmes in Somalia, with a focus on countering violent extremism; disarmament, demobilisation and reintegration; counter-terrorism; and the capacity-building of security forces. Dividing time between London, Nairobi and Mogadishu, he has managed large and diverse teams on challenging and technically complex programmes.
In addition to project delivery and implementation, Nick is also well-versed in the full business development cycle, from early scoping and positioning through to the co-ordination, writing and submission of technical and commercial proposals. He has contributed to security and justice sector proposals for projects in Ethiopia, Kenya, Kosovo, Mali, Mozambique, Nigeria, Somalia, South Sudan and Uganda. Prior to joining international development consultancy Nick spent a year in the security risk management sector, where he worked on political risk analysis, investigations and kidnap response.
Nick holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and French from the University of Exeter and a Master’s degree in Applied Security Strategy, both from university’s Strategy & Security Institute. His Master’s dissertation examined the internal dynamics of terrorist groups.
