Supporting Pro-poor Market Interventions, Bangladesh

Country / date: Bangladesh (2012)

Partner: Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO)

Project objective(s): Review and refine a major NGO’s private sector engagement strategy, aimed at encouraging better linkages between the country’s poor and international supply chains.

Project outcome(s):  The NGO had one of the largest programmes linking rural and urban poor to national and international supply chains in Asia. Integrity conducted an assessment of two of their major private sector interventions: (1) workforce engagement, literacy and health projects in the ready-made garment sector; and (2) rural rug manufacturing units for export. In addition, Integrity facilitated the drawing together of a private sector engagement strategy. This led to a deeper understanding of the impacts of the NGO’s workforce engagement work, particularly with women, providing a foundation for consolidating and scaling-up for future interventions.
