Alex Martins – Services Manager
Alex is a Services Manager at Integrity based in London. She has an emphasis on programme management and implementation (PMI) as well as research and analysis. Alex focuses primarily on projects in East Africa and DRC. These include the DFID DRC Evidence, Analysis and Coordination Programme (EACP) and support to research projects in Somalia, Kenya and South Sudan.
She has a background in International Relations and African politics, focusing particularly on conflict resolution through transitional governance and power-sharing. Over the past three years, she has conducted research projects on civil society organisations in DRC, atrocity crimes in Burundi and think tanks in sub-Saharan Africa. She has also worked on a USAID-funded good governance programme in Kinshasa run by DAI and most a national healing and reconciliation project in South Sudan. Prior to Integrity, Alex worked for Initiatives of Change International, an NGO focused on trust building, ethical leadership and sustainable living, where she co-organised the Caux Forum for Human Security.
Alex holds an MPhil in Politics (Comparative Government) from the University of Oxford and a BA in International Relations from the University of Pennsylvania. Her MPhil thesis focused on the transitional government in the Democratic Republic of Congo between 2003 and 2006, drawing on fieldwork in Kinshasa in 2010. Originally from South Africa, she has lived in Brazil, the United States and the United Kingdom, where she is currently based.
